ENGR. DR. FUNMILAYO WAHEED-ADEKOJO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a poverty eradication blueprint, initiated by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, and adopted by world leaders, is a 17 goals programme, designed to foster good economic growth worldwide. 

Numerous efforts have been made by governments and key industry players ever since the introduction of the SDGs into the world economic blueprint; many of whom, have taken up the responsibility of working individually towards the collective achievement of about 2-point goals from the 17 points SDGs Goals;

  • GOAL 4: QUALITY EDUCATION
  • GOAL 5: GENDER EQUALITY

Among the key industry players who are passionately working towards a better economic and sustainable environment for the world is Engr. Dr. Amb. Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, is an engineering expert, gospel musician, and philanthropist. 

Funmi Ayinke, through her charity foundation, FunmiAyinke Humanity Foundation (FHF), has contributed immensely towards the attainment of 2 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The foundation has been able to help in the aspect of Quality Education, Job creation, and Empowerment programs for widows, single parents, abandoned children, and children under the care of single parents.

FunmiAyinke Humanity Foundation has provided timely empowerment for over 10,000 women and sponsored more than 500 undergraduates across various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

She also through her Humanity Foundation (FHF) sponsored the year 2021 edition of the UNILAG’s Coding and Robotics Summer School, a programme that aims to provide free fundamental software development training to primary and secondary school students.

Funmi Ayinke through her humanitarian Foundation has organized outreach for some Ghanian Widows, she has also empowered over 3000 widows in Ogun State.

She is an astute believer in the younger generation, thus, her passionate commitment to youth development and empowerment across Nigeria, a country plagued with social, political, and economic challenges. 

Her weekly talent hunt programme has a record-high attraction of 30,000 participants, spanning the six (6) geopolitical zones of Nigeria. All sections of the programme are captivating as they are designed to depict the hidden talent in the participants. It also involves competition through which the best five candidates receive cash gifts as a motivation reward. 

Funmi Ayinke, being a role model to many aspiring Nigerians, never fails to make a positive touch in any society she finds herself in, as this is a testament to her immense contribution to the attainment of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
