AN ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF FUNMIAYINKE NIGERIA LIMITED,(ENGR. MRS FUNMILAYO WAHEED- ADEKOJO) IN ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE AS AN NGO BY IJEBU YOUTH ASSOCIATION ON SUNDAY 1ST OF NOVEMBER,2020 AT EPIC HALL, IREWON IJEBUODE, OGUN STATE.
Excellences, Elder Statesmen, Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, and my indefatigable youths of IJEBU, I stand here on behalf of fellow honorees to acknowledge with humility and gratitude these honors that the leadership of IJEBU Youth has bestowed on me.
It is important that awards are credible, predictable, and independently verifiable in addition to underscoring the values of leadership in service. But I believe beyond the adulation that necessarily accompanies these awards, I see this award as a call to duty in our various spheres of endeavors. I know it places a burden on me to do more in the service of our people and not to rest on our oars. As that great American jurist, OLIVER WENDELI HOMES once said – Greatness is not where we stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must set sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it – but sail we must, and not drift, nor lie at the anchor.
Lastly, to my indefatigable youths, we all have a generational responsibility to make this country a better place than it currently is and we need to stop agonizing and start organizing more than we are doing now. Let us all shun violence and embrace peace.
Kindly accept my immense gratitude for this recognition.
I dedicate this prestigious award to all the youths out there as I strongly believe that truly, we are the leaders of tomorrow.
