Funmi Ayinke Waheed-Adekojo has made history in Ondo State by becoming the first woman to throw her hat in the ring for the governorship position.
Affectionately called Funmi Ayinke, she successfully passed through the APC screening committee for the Ondo gubernatorial race, held at the APC Party Secretariat in Abuja last Saturday.
It’s no surprise that her screening went smoothly.
During the screening, Funmi Ayinke emphasised her vision for Ondo State, focusing on the advancement of technology and the integration of artificial intelligence.
Confident in securing the party’s ticket, the philanthropist attributed her extensive support from women in the state to her consistent efforts to improve their well-being.
She recounted the overwhelming turnout at her rally in Akure, where women, without any monetary incentives, rallied behind her gubernatorial ambition because they were inspired by her track record of empowering women, youths, widows, and the underprivileged over the years.
As the screening wrapped up, there were cheers from the committee and congratulatory messages from party officials. Women within the premises offered fervent prayers for her victory.
